
PhD student
José González Hernández was born in Almería on 14 October 1994. He obtained the Degree in Industrial Electronic Engineering in 2020 and the Master in Industrial Engineering in 2022, both at the University of Almeria. Since 2020 he started his research work on the project in the Automatic control, Robotics and Mechatronics (ARM) – TEP 197 research group. He is currently studying a PhD in Computer Science at the University of Almeria through an FPI scholarship.

Data-driven modelling and control of biological processes in open microalgae reactors.
Application of machine learning strategies in biological processes.
Main results:
Optimisation of temperature in raceway photobioreactors for microalgae production by means of level regulation.
Development of a biomass concentration estimation device using an RGB sensor.
Graphical tool for estimating microalgae production in external raceway reactors around the world.
Use of 1D convolutional neural networks in spectrometry for classification of microalgae genera.
